Southwest Health works every day to create a healthier southwest Wisconsin. We cannot complete our mission without sharing our resources and time with other in our community. Recently, Southwest Health was recognized by the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative with the Quarles & Brady Community Engagement award for an initiative lead by the Radiology Department to allow University of Wisconsin-Platteville Forensics Investigation students to use Southwest Health technology to scan and research the remains of deceased individuals from open cases under the direction of the County Medical Examiner’s Office, UWP professors, and Southwest Health Radiology team.
The American Heart Association presents outpatient program achievement awards for proven dedication to ensuring patients have access to best practices that reduce risk of heart disease and stroke. The awards recognize a commitment to following the latest evidence- and science-based care guidelines. Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, stroke or heart failure. High cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes and uncontrolled high blood pressure are leading risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but with timely diagnosis, research-based treatment and education, these conditions can be managed. Southwest Health is at Gold plus status for Hypertension, Gold status for Cholesterol, and Participation for Diabetes.
Southwest Health received four Guardian of Excellence awards from Press Ganey, including the Guardian of Excellence for Employee Experience in the hospital and behavioral inpatient care, Physician Experience, and Patient Experience. This accreditation marks Southwest Health’s fourth consecutive year of receiving the Guardian Excellence award for inpatient Patient Experience. The Guardian of Excellence Award for Inpatient care awards the top 5% of hospitals for inpatient experience scores. The Guardian of Excellence Award for Employee Experience honors facilities, like Southwest Health, that achieved the 95th percentile or higher in engagement on census surveys.
Southwest Health is recognized as one of the top 350 cleanest hospitals in the United States by patient surveys. This recognition is a testament to Southwest Health’s dedicated staff. This is a national, standardized survey of hospital patients about their experience during a recent inpatient hospital stay. The surveys were completed between October 2022 and September 2023.
Southwest Health was recognized for achieving Purple Clinic status for our outstanding commitment to building better brains by helping families share books together in the Platteville and Cuba City Clinic. Clinics can achieve purple status by meeting all 14 Reach Out and Read National Center’s Site Quality Classification metrics. Purple clinics are developing best practices and teaching others how medical clinics can collaborate with community partners in support of families and the healthy development of children.
Southwest Health’s Cuba City Clinic has been recognized as one of Wisconsin Immunization Program’s “BigShots”. This award recognizes organizations with outstanding immunization rates for 2023. The Cuba City Clinic has 90% or more of patients with at one dose of the Hep A vaccine by 24 months old. We are proud of our clinic staff for their diligence keep communities safe against vaccine-preventable diseases!
Southwest Health was recognized as a leader in the industry by being awarded the 2022 Patient Experience Award. This is a testament to our exceptional service and care to the community. As an organization, we continue to create positive experiences that exemplify our commitment to excellence.
Southwest Health’s Emergency and Birth Center Departments have both been recognized as “Best Hospitals” by the Women’s Choice Awards. Our Birth Center Department has been rated in the Top 1% of hospitals and Emergency Departments in the Top 5%. We are dedicated to treating every patient with compassion and care and are proud to receive this recognition. The Women’s Choice award has also recognized Southwest Health in its Top Hospital category.
Southwest Health was recognized as one of Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals in 2022. The rankings, presented by Newsweek with data from Statista, used data from hospital recommendations from peers, including surveys measuring patient experience, patient safety, hygiene measures, and treatment quality.
Southwest Health announced they have been named a 2022 Human Experience (HX) Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey, the global leader in healthcare experience solutions and services. This award is part of Press Ganey’s annual ranking of the country’s top hospitals and health systems, according to performance in patient and employee experience. With this endorsement, Southwest Health is recognized as a leader in the healthcare industry.
Southwest Health was recognized as one of six Wisconsin hospitals to receive the highest marks for nurse communication, according to the Hospital Consumer Assessment of healthcare providers and Systems from CMS. 91% of patients responded that “nurses always communicated well.”
Southwest Health is proud to be fully accredited by the Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit that certifies health care organizations and programs across the United States. Its mission is to continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. They work to ensure all people always experience the safest, highest quality, best-value health care across all settings. Joint Commission accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
For the outstanding work environment it provides its employees, Southwest Health was recognized on July 16, 2015, when the Jackson Group, a North Carolina-based survey services and consulting firm, presented the health care network with the prestigious Laureate Award for Workplace Excellence.
The Laureate Award for Workplace Excellence was bestowed on Southwest Health to recognize high scores on work climate surveys. Southwest Health’s own employees gave the scores as they rated factors that create a healthy and engaging workplace. The Laureate Award is issued only after certifying high survey results and reviewing the organization’s internal work plans for constantly improving the workplace.
